I hope all you high school basketball players had a chance to watch UConn win the women’s basketball championship on Sunday. It was Coach Geno Arriemma’s 12 Championship at UConn. While it was enjoyable to watch as a fan, on this channel we want to dive into what you can learn from their accomplishment and there are a few things that stand out, that I’m going to share today.
When I first became a girl’s high school head basketball coach, I was determined to build a program that was focused on player development, both on the court and off. I was fortunate enough back then to work at Geno Auriemma’s UConn camps during the summer. The way I looked at it, was if you want to be the best at something, you should surround yourself with the best, learn and soak up as much as you can from them. Soak when coach Geno won his 12th championship on Sunday, I reflected back on where they started and what you players can take away from their success.
Welcome back to Hard Smart Together! I’m Coach Dave, I’m here every week to help basketball players become the smart, confident players that coaches love.
Hope you enjoy!
